Aloha!
I just wanted to let
you folks know... I was out in Hawaii in June 2002 and stopped
by your store. As a matter of fact, I reluctantly took surfing
lessons with my boyfriend at his request. After some reassurance
from you guys and a chat with T.G., I actually looked forward
to the lesson and I AM SO GLAD I DID IT!!
After our visit to Haleiwa we returned to our hotel in Waikiki
and went surfing on our own a couple of more times before our
return to the Midwest... we were both addicted. Let me say that
if lifes circumstances were such that I were able to move to Hawaii
I would be SUCH a surfer chick! (However, I really didn't like
Waikiki as much as I did your beautiful side of the island).
We'll be back next
year (or at least I will!!) for "refresher" lessons
and more surf. I promise myself this.
Thank you for not
allowing me to pass up one of the coolest things I have ever done
in my entire life. I look very forward to my next trip out there.
Thanks again!
Heidi Osburn - Michigan

Bodyboarding is a great way to experience the thrill
and excitement of riding the waves in Hawaii. Because you are lying
down on a soft foam board as opposed to standing up on a hard fiberglass
board, bodyboarding is much easier and safer! Bodyboarding requires
less physical strength than surfing because you wear fins on your feet
for propulsion. Bodyboarding is so simple and so much fun you'll
be hooked after your first lesson!
Also available are bodyboard rentals
and sales.

The waters off the North Shore are not
only famous for excellent surf and great diving, but for big game sport
fishing as well. Ahi (Yellowfin Tuna), Aku (Skipjack Tuna), Mahi Mahi
(Dorado or Dolphin fish), and Ono ( Wahoo) are frequently caught on our
fishing charters, and if you are really lucky you may even land a marlin!
Having fifteen years of experience, Captain Rusty knows where to find
the "Big Boys". Some of Captain Rusty's fishing exploits include
- 7 Marlin in one day, over 300 lbs. of Mahi Mahi in one day, and his
biggest accomplishment a 709 lb. Marlin! He has also placed in the money
at the Hale'iwa Hanapa'a Jackpot Tournament.
Your charter will be aboard a 31 ft Bertram
named the Ku'uloa Kai, which loosely translated means, "Sea going
fishing shrine". Daily charters leave the harbor at 6 a.m. and return
around 3 p.m. depending on the ocean conditions and include all equipment,
bait and drinks. Customers are encouraged to bring towels, sunscreen,
a hat and a lunch. If you are susceptible to seasickness, you should take
any medication prior to boarding the boat, and bring extra just in case.
Although there is no guarantee of catching fish, hence the name 'fishing'
and not 'catching', you'll definitely have a great time on the water!

WATER - CRAFT (Future
Beach)

Our self-bailing pedal boats has set a new
industry standard for quality and performance. Children and adults will
enjoy a fast and comfortable ride as they explore nature's beautiful lakes,
rivers, and oceans. Water Bee pedal boats are made from rotational-molded,
high-density polyethylene. Each hull is uni-molded: no seams means no
leaks. Since polyethylene is a high-density plastic, the hull of the Water
Bee is much more durable than most conventional pedal boats. While other
pedal boats lose their color and form due to years of exposure to the
sun and to salt water, the polyethylene hull of the Water Bee pedal boat
is 100 % UV-stable, and 100% salt-water resistant.
Because we are located right on the beach you can start
your adventure right in our 'backyard'! You can head out towards
Pua'ena Point and go snorkeling with the turtles or take a leisurely
cruise up the Anahulu Stream and see Hawaii's hidden beauty. Come
on out and give it a try... you'll be surprised at how much fun
you can have on the water!
WARNING - These craft should be used by someone
who is familiar with water conditions. Always check the condition of your
craft and gear before entering the water. Wear an approved personal floatation
device. Understand your limitations. Be aware of your environment and
the weather.

CERTIFICATION COURSES
|
|
This
PADI course assures the knowledge and skills necessary to safely visit
the underwater world and it will make you comfortable with the equipment.
Upon successful completion of the course, the PADI Open Water Diver certification
card is awarded. Certification means
a diver is qualified to:
Buy air fills, equipment and other diving services, engage in open water
diving activities without the direct supervision of a diving instructor
and participate in the PADI Advanced Open Water course.
The course is divided into three
sections: Academic training - reading the manual, watching the videos,
listening to the lectures and taking quizzes.
Confined water training - practicing skills for the course in safe, shallow
water.
Open water training - applying what was learned in the confined water
and academic sessions at an actual dive site.
Four open water
dives are required for certification. The Open Water Diver
course can be completed in three days.
Day one: Starts with a morning
of classroom instruction, videos and a short quiz to test your understanding
of the material. Then it's off to the water for the confined water
training. This will get you familiar with the skills, equipment
and safety procedures you will be using for the remainder of the course.
Day two: Continues with another
academic session in the classroom then back to the water for two dives
in open water. Here you will start to use the information and skills
learned in the previous sessions on actual dives to about 30 feet.
Day three: Consists of the last
two open water dives, a final exam and certification. It's that
easy!
The three days
do not have to run consecutively.
Price includes ALL equipment, classroom
materials, and instruction (tax not included).
The day starts at 9:00 am and ends at
about 4:30 pm depending on the size of the class.

Advanced
Open Water Diver
This
program involves students in various underwater tasks that broaden your
awareness of the environment and capabilities as divers. It also
provides you, newly certified diver, with a structured, well-supervised
means of gaining additional experience. The Advanced Open Water
course consists of 5 open water training dives; two are core (required)
dives, and three are electives.
The core dives include a deep dive (60
- 100 feet) and a navigation dive (a combination of natural and compass
navigation). These dives introduce you to the fundamentals of advanced
diving.
The three elective dives may include any
of the following:
- Boat Diving
- Wreck Diving
- Night Diving
- Drift Diving
- Underwater Photography
- Underwater Naturalist
- Underwater Hunter
- Search and Recovery
The five dives can be completed in as
little as two days (if one elective is a night dive), but three days is
the norm. The academics involve self-study. For each dive
to be done, the corresponding chapter in the Advanced Manual (provided
in this course) needs to be read. A knowledge review at the end
of each chapter should be completed before the open water session in conducted.
The instructor will then review any items missed on the knowledge review
to insure the material is completely understood.

The Divemaster course is designed to train qualified
individuals as supervisory personnel. The Divemaster may oversee
diving activities or act as an underwater guide. The goals of Divemaster
training are:
- Enable the candidate to organize, conduct and supervise diving activities
- To act as an assistant to Open Water Scuba Instructors
- To develop theoretical diving knowledge to a level sufficient to
become an instructor
Divemaster training consists of three
phases that include Watermanship and Skills Assessment, Knowledge Development
and Practical Application.
The Divemaster
course is probably the most time consuming course requiring a minimum
of 6 days of theory and practical applications.

Referral Dives
A little crunched for time? Want
to get certified but don't want to dive in 'freezing' water? Then
the referral dive is for you.
You simply take a certification course
at your local dive shop and do the academics portion. Then when
you come to Hawaii you only have to do the open water sessions.
The 4 dives required to get your certification can be done usually in
2 days.
